Vanilla and Matcha Sugar Cookies Recipe

  • Serving: 40 cookies
  • Bake time: 8 minutes (16 minutes total)

Ingredients:

Bowl A-

  • 2.75 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

Bowl B-

  • 1 cup melted butter
  • 1.5 cup white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Reserve: 1 Tbsp matcha powder

Direction:

Step 1: Measure the ingredients.

Step 2: Melt the butter in the microwave for one minute.

Step 3: Mix ingredients for Bowl A.

Step 4: Mix ingredients for Bowl B.

Step 5: Pour Bowl A flour mixture into Bowl B wet mixture and blend well.

Step 6: Divide the dough into two balls. And add the matcha powder into one of the ball. Knead the dough until the matcha powder is blended into the cookie dough.

Step 7: Cover the bowls and set aside for 30 minutes because we used melted butter and it needs to firm up a bit or else the cookies will melt like a blob. (Learned from our mistakes.)

Step 8: Roll the cookie dough into ping pong ball size. I was able to fit and bake 20 cookies on a tray at a time.

Step 9: Bake at 375F for 8 minutes.

Step 10: Top with sprinkles when the cookies are still hot. I pressed the cookies down lightly to create more creases for the sprinkles to stay put. Let the cookies cool down before decorating with the icing.

Enjoy!

Happy Thanksgiving!
