Materials Needed:
- Napoli Retaining Wall Blocks from Lowe’s Home Improvement store
- leveler or my eyeball
- 1-inch diameter PVC pipe
- Tool to cut the PVC pipe
- “Construction Adhevise” – if I were to stack a layer of retaining wall blocks on top
Note: I do not like using additional fillers like gravel or crushed rocks underneath the blocks because it is just adding more debris and junk to my rich garden soil I have spent years building.
6. Creating a Tier Layer to Prevent Erosion in Backyard
future project
I am so tired dealing with my neighbor’s dirt and weed seeds eroding into my sloping backyard. It’s been a constant battle with the erosion for the past years. I am determined to end this problem by using “retaining wall blocks” from my local Lowe’s Home Improvement store. The following are my projects completed and notes I need to remember.
5. Creating a Leveled Flower bed in the front near the house
Future project
4. Large Circular Flower Bed with Double Layer
My front yard has a slight slope and my OCD me have always wanted a leveled flower bed in the center of the living room window when I look out. After five days rearranging the heavy blocks, I finally got it completed. This project needed 36 blocks (12 blocks on the bottom half at the down slope and 24 blocks to complete the leveled ring on top). Maybe it’s not a 100% perfect circle but it sure does pop out and look much better than using the flimsy plastic edging border to form the circle.

3. Large Size Tree Ring

2. Medium Size Tree Ring

1. Small Size Tree Ring

Notes: Twelve retaining wall blocks are needed to make a small perfect tight circle with the adjacent sides touching with no gap. The inside diameter is 3-feet long (36 inches). I laid the blocks on my driveway first to form the circle and cut a PVC pipe the diameter of the circle to help center the location of the tree to be planted and helps me position the first block and opposite block on the other half of the circle to start off.
