8/18/24: West Palm Beach, Florida: I got a chance to taste Lemon Cattley Guava for the very first time and fell in love with the fruit taste. My friend, Leaph, in West Palm Beach is a fruit tree seller. The fruit I tasted was harvested from one of Leaph’s Lemon Cattley Guava tree growing in a 3-gallon size pot. The tree though small has several fruits on it already.
Taste Review:
Lemon Cattley Guava is a small size fruit. The fruit has light yellowish thin skin. The seeds are not too hard compared to Thai White Guava. The flesh is very juicy and has this pleasant sweet honey taste with a lemon flavor. I was surprised to taste how sweet it is. I really like it and will definitely add a Lemon Cattley guava tree to my collection on my next trip to Leaph to pick up fruit trees for local folks.
Lemon Cattley guava has a high fruit production rate and even grows well in a container. This guava variety doesn’t seem to have maggots issue. Leaph said no bagging is needed for this variety.
