My PPC Atemoya Tree

This is an on-going documentary of my PPC atemoya’s growth progress.

About PPC Atemoya

PPC atemoya and Geffner atemoya are my top two favorite atemoya varieties I have tasted so far. PPC Atemoya is juicy, sweet, not gritty, and has a pleasant floral smell.

What I Learned about Atemoya Trees in General

  1. Atemoya is in the annona family.
  2. Atemoya is a cross hybrid between a sugar apple and a cherimoya.
  3. Named atemoya is based on what variety of sugar apple and variety of cherimoya was used to create that specific hybrid Atemoya.
  4. Atemoya seeds will not grow true since atemoya is a cross hybrid, but Atemoya seedlings do make a good rootstock to graft the named atemoya on.
  5. Atemoya trees need good rich organic well draining soil.
  6. Atemoya trees have shallow root system. The trees can easily be knocked down during strong hurricane storms so staking the tree during hurricane season is advised.
