This is my on-going tomato review post to keep track which tomato varieties I dislike or detest and definitely will never grow again in this lifetime. I only like tomato varieties that have a high fruit yield and a unique taste profile, are crack resistant, fruity sweet, and disease resistant.
Dislike and Detest List:
- Pink Fang oblong
- Orange Peach beefsteak
- Wooly Kate cherry
Picture and description below.
Pink Fang (dislike)
12/18/25: Pink Fang tomato is on my dislike list because it’s too pasty and not sweet sweet. This variety has no significant flavor. The fruits have signs of crackling near the top. My friend likes it because Pink Fang has high fruit yield and she uses this variety in soups and sauces. I am eliminating Pink Fang tomato off my seed inventory. I would have like this variety if it does not have splitting issue with excessive watering. Thanks Louann Celso for letting me try the Pink Fang.
Orange Peach beefsteak tomato (detest)
12/18/25: My friend test grow this in her garden for me. She and I both detest the Orange Peach beefsteak tomato. Orange Peach gets its name because the flesh is orangy and the fruit skin has a soft fuzz just how a peach skin feels like. The mature fruit size is about an egg size but spherical. Orange Peach tomato is one of the juiciest tomato variety I have ever tasted. What made it on our detest list is that his variety is extremely sensitive to splitting with too much watering. Once the fruit splits, it starts to get moldy very quickly. Thanks Louann for growing and letting me try the Orange Peach. Seeds from Baker Creek.
Wooly Kate cherry tomato (detest)
6/1/25: Wooly Kate cherry tomato from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds tasted mushy, pulpy, and not sweet at all to me. Thanks to Louann Celso for letting me taste these Wooly Kate tomatoes.
