Documentary updated 11/19/24: Oviedo, Florida, USA, Plant Hardiness Zone 9B/10A

Here is the most up-to-date image of my Giant Fuyu persimmon tree:

11/2/24: Oviedo, FL Zone 10A: I am starting the documentary of my Giant Fuyu persimmon tree. This documentary will mainly focus on showing you the visual growth progress of my persimmon tree and how I prune and trim it after fruiting season to keep the tree under ten feet tall. I will try to update a photo once every three months.

Taste Profile:

There are many persimmon varieties. The two type s of persimmon trees are astringent and non-astringent. Fuyu Japanese persimmon is a non-astringent variety. The fruit is sweet when it’s firm and crunchy, and even more when it’s soft and juicy. My family prefer sweet firm persimmons. Giant Fuyu persimmon is similar to Fuyu persimmon, but the fruit size is much bigger.

The story begins…

11/2/24: I bought a Giant Fuyu persimmon tree from Hoa’s Nursery in Apopka, Florida! The tree is in a 7-gallon size pot and at least 6 feet tall.

11/15/24: I planted the Giant Fuyu persimmon tree into the ground in the front yard. My goal is going to maintain it under 10-feet tall by annual pruning after harvest season every year. Wish me luck!
