Ambrosia Salad Recipe

Ambrosia salad is a fruit salad that contains the main ingredients of coconut flakes, marshmallows, whipped cream, and mixed fruits. Ambrosia salad is my childhood’s favorite as I recalled cafeteria lunchtime was the only time I get to eat American food when I was little. The school cafeteria used fruit cocktails but we used fresh fruits.

My little chef is going to teach the little friends how to make this salad. She even picked out what dress to wear for this visual demonstration.

Servings: 3-4 cereal bowl size

Ingredients:

1 Ambrosia apple

2 oranges

1 cup of diced fresh sweet pineapple

1/2 cup of unsweetened dried coconut flakes

1 cup rainbow or white mini marshmallows

1 tub of whipped cream

1 cup of seedless grapes

1 banana *

*Note:  Bananas will turn brown within an hour.  If you want to make this salad look pretty for a party, I suggest not to put bananas in unless you’re eating it right away.

Direction: 

Since my little chef is doing the demo, I typed the direction in her first-person perspective.

Step 1:  First, have Mommy or an adult help peel and cut the fruits into small pieces.

Step 2: Next, now it’s time to have fun making ambrosia salad! You’ll need a big mixing bowl and a big spoon for mixing.

Toss the cut oranges in the big bowl.

Then add the sweet pineapples.

Add the apples.

Then dump the grapes into the bowl.

Throw in the marshmallows.

Add the coconut flakes in.

Step 3:  Then you stir the fruits and marshmallows together.

Step 4:  Last, this is my favorite part of all! Splatter LOTS of whipped cream into the fruit mixture.  I tried to mix it up but the salad is now thicker and needs a little more muscle to mix it up well.  So Mommy had to help me.

Tah dah! I proudly made this ambrosia salad with just a little help.
